We know coffee. It’s our bread and butter, but it’s never basic. Coffee has been around for centuries, but it never stops evolving and neither has our team. Chemex? Slow-Drip? Nitro?! These terms are all French (press) to a barista who doesn’t know what they’re doing.
Craft Coffee has a combined sixty years of experience in the industry but we’ve never gotten complacent. We’ve tried and tested all the trends to figure out what works and what tastes the best. And what we’ve found is that the secret is in our premium quality coffee beans, that are directly sourced from farmers that we’ve spent years cultivating relationships with.
But that’s never stopped us from innovating and having fun with how we roast our coffee. Coffee has two dimensions- art and science- and combining the two has resulted the most delicious and visually aesthetic blends. Some of this perfection may be attributed to the star-power on our staff as our Roastery Manager, Lovejoy Chirambasukwa won the South African Barista Championship in 2013.
Craft Coffee is all about that hometown love. The names of our coffee blends pay tribute to the inner-city regeneration project our Newtown Roastery is a part of: Newtown, Selby, Westbury, Fordsburg and Marshalltown. We recently brought our funky inner-city vibe to the ‘burbs with a café in Parktown North but we promise we won’t let it change us!
Each time we pour you another finely blended cup, ‘Roasted with Distinction,’ we’re writing another sentence of Craft Coffee’s story. Keep reading.
